What would you like to do?
π΅ Setting up the elder's phone
Done by a family member Β· on the elder's phone- Install Ebeveynim on your elder's phone from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iPhone).
- Open the app. If needed, choose English at the top. Read the notice and tap β I have read and understood.
- On "Whose phone is this?" choose For my elder.
- Enter the name of the person who will use the phone (e.g. Grandma Mary) and tap Continue.
- Enter the elder's phone number and choose a 4-digit PIN. Type the PIN twice and tap β
Save.
Be sure to write this PIN down. If the elder's phone changes or the app is deleted, this number and PIN are needed to bring the family back. No SMS is sent; the number simply works as a username.
- A QR code appears. Tap β Grant permissions below it and answer "Allow" to every question (microphone, calls, camera, notifications). Also choose "Allow" for the battery question so notifications arrive without delay.
- Leave the QR code on the screen and move on to connecting your own phone. When a family member scans this code with their own phone, the elder's phone connects to them and the home screen opens by itself.
If you won't connect anyone right now, tap β¬ Skip for now, go to home screen. A big β Connect a family member (QR) button then shows on the home screen; open the code from there (or from β Settings) later.
π± Connecting your own phone
Family member Β· on their own phone- Install and open Ebeveynim on your own phone and accept the notice.
- Choose Mine (family member).
- Type your name the way you'd like it to appear on your elder's screen (e.g. My son John) and enter your phone number. Your elder will call you on this number.
- Tap π· Scan QR code and point your camera at the code on the elder's phone. If the camera doesn't open, type the 8-character code shown on the screen and tap Connect with code.
- Once connected, enter your number and choose a 4-digit PIN. This brings your account back if you reinstall the app or change phones.
- Your home screen opens. A big card with your name also appears on your elder's phone.
π¨βπ©βπ§ Adding siblings and other family members
Each family member on their own phoneEach family member follows the connecting your own phone steps and scans the QR code on the elder's phone. To show the elder's QR code: on the elder's screen, press and hold the β Settings icon in the top right for 3 seconds.
- Basic allows 1, Family 3, and Family Plus 5 family members. There is no limit during the 14-day trial.
- Only one person buys the plan, and everyone uses it. See Plans.
π« Adding mum and dad to the same family
Done by a family memberIf mum and dad use separate phones, both can be added to the same family (with Family Plus and during the trial, up to 4 elders).
- Set up the second elder's phone following setting up the elder's phone, with their own number and PIN.
- On your phone, tap β Add another elder (scan QR) at the bottom of the home screen.
- Scan the QR code on the second elder's screen.
π Adding contacts to the elder's screen
Family member Β· from their own phone- On your home screen, tap π₯ Contacts on your elder's card.
- Tap β Add contact. With π Choose from phone contacts you can pick the number from your contacts.
- Add the nicknames your elder will say (e.g. my son, John, Johnny). When your elder says "call my son", the app looks for these names.
- Tap Save. Change the order with β² βΌ. Your elder's screen updates instantly.
To change how the elder appears on your screen, use β Name next to their card. The name you give here (Dad, Grandpa, My wifeβ¦) only shows on your phone.
π€ How does your elder use the app?
Elder's phoneCalling someone
They press π CALL on the person's card, or press the round π€ TALK button at the bottom and say "Call my son". The call starts after 3 seconds; to stop it, β CANCEL.
Sending a voice message
They press π€ MESSAGE or say "Message my daughter". When the app says "speak", they talk, then press β SEND. What they say is also turned into text. At the end it says "Done, your message has been sent".
Messaging everyone or the children
If they tap π€ TALK and say "Message everyone", it goes to everyone including other elders. "Message my children" or "Message family members" goes to family members only, elders excluded.
Sending a video
They tap the purple πΉ VIDEO on the person's card, or say "Video to my son". They hold the phone up and tap the green βΊ START RECORDING; it counts 3-2-1, records for 10 seconds and sends by itself. To finish early: βΉ FINISH NOW AND SEND. 1 video a day on Family, 3 a day on Family Plus. Incoming videos can be replayed with βΆ WATCH AGAIN.
Incoming messages
A yellow π NEW MESSAGE β LISTEN appears at the top. Pressing it shows the message in huge letters and reads it aloud. βΆ PLAY AGAIN or π€ REPLY.
Sending location
They press π SEND LOCATION at the bottom and are asked who should get it: EVERYONE (elders included) at the top, then FAMILY MEMBERS (elders excluded), then each person. While the location is found it says "please wait", and at the end "Done". If the family asks for the location, a huge π SEND (or π SHARE for live location) button appears; nothing is sent unless the elder presses it.
Sending a photo
They press π· SEND PHOTO and hold the phone up to their face; it counts 3-2-1 and the front camera takes the photo. They choose who receives it: EVERYONE (elders included), FAMILY MEMBERS (elders excluded) or individual people. At the end: "Done, your photo has been sent".
Asking for a photo
They press π· ASK FOR A PHOTO on the person's card; it says "Done, request sent". When the family member sends a photo, it opens large on the elder's screen with a spoken notice. The elder can ask family members for at most 10 photos a day. Saying "Ask my daughter for a photo" works too.
Did my messages arrive?
Small bubbles above the Talk button show what was sent that day, plus anything from the last 2 days that hasn't been received yet: π€ Message: 3 sent β’ 2 received. The same exists for photos, videos and location. Tapping a bubble reads it aloud.
On-screen notice box
Notices that appear at the top (e.g. someone new joined the family) also show as a big box in the middle of the screen and are read aloud. Tap OK to close it; if there are several, they come one by one.
When a reminder rings
At the time the family set, the phone rings like an alarm, the note is shown in large letters and read aloud. Pressing β OK is enough; the family is told it was seen.
Stopping live location
While live location is on, a red Your location is being shared β STOP bar shows at the top. Pressing it stops sharing immediately; it also turns off by itself after 1 hour.
Settings are hidden so the elder doesn't open them by accident: they open by pressing and holding the β icon in the top right for 3 seconds.
π¬ What can you do as a family member?

- If your elder asks for a photo: a "Mum is asking you for a photo π·" screen opens on your phone; tap π· Send a photo to take one or pick one from the gallery.
- π· Send photo: take one with the camera or pick from the gallery, then send it to your elder, to the people you choose or to Everyone (elders included) or to Everyone except elders. It opens large on the elder's screen with a spoken notice.
- β° Reminder: set an alarm on your elder's phone with a note and a time. Details.
- Notice box: notifications like "Mum saw your message β You can relax" still appear at the top; while the app is open, or the next time it's opened, they also show as a big box on screen and close with OK.
- Status tiles: battery level and when the phone was last used. You're notified when the battery is low or the phone hasn't been used for the time you choose (Family and Family Plus).
- π€ My details (name, phone): correct your own name or number.
β° Setting a reminder alarm
Family member's phoneβ Use it for things like: "Doctor's appointment at 2 pm", "Grandchild's birthday, call them", "Pay the bill", "The neighbour is coming, open the door".
- On your elder's card tap β° Reminder β β New reminder.
- Type the note; it will appear in large letters on the elder's screen.
- Choose the time and pick Once (with a day), Every day or Some days.
- Tap β° Set the reminder. The alarm is set on the elder's phone.
- At that time the elder's phone rings like an alarm, the note is shown in large letters and read aloud.
- When the elder taps OK, you get a "β¦ saw the reminder β" notification.
- If they don't tap it within 10 minutes it rings once more. If they still don't, you get a "β¦ didn't see the reminder" notification; you may want to call.
- Remove reminders you set with Delete on the same screen. Up to 10 reminders can be set per elder.
- On Android, for the alarm to ring right on time, turn on "Reminder alarms ring right on time" in β Settings β Permissions on the elder's phone.
π³ Buying a plan
Only one person in the family- All features are free for the first 14 days. The days left are shown at the top of the home screen.
- Tap Plans at the top of the home screen.
- Choose Basic (1 family member), Family (3 family members) or Family Plus (5 family members, 4 elders) and confirm the payment in the store.
- If you changed phones and the plan doesn't show, tap Restore purchases.
To cancel: on Android, Google Play β Payments & subscriptions; on iPhone, Settings β [your name] β Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period. Without a plan, the app can't be used after the trial. Your family details aren't deleted; once a plan is bought, the app opens where you left off.
π I deleted and reinstalled the app
Same for elders and family members- Install the app again, open it and accept the notice.
- Most of the time the app signs you back in automatically; your family, contacts and plan come back exactly as they were.
- If it doesn't, choose π I already have an account on "Whose phone is this?".
- Enter the phone number and 4-digit PIN you used when you signed up and tap Sign in.
- If it's the elder's phone, answer "Allow" to the permission requests again.
π² I changed my phone
Same for elders and family members- Install Ebeveynim on the new phone.
- When moving from Android to Android, if you restored the old phone's backup, the app may sign you in automatically.
- Otherwise π I already have an account β the number + 4-digit PIN from sign-up. This is always the way when moving to iPhone or between iPhone and Android.
- If the plan doesn't show, the person who bought it should tap Plans β Restore purchases.
- Delete the app from the old phone. If the same account stays open on two phones, messages only reach the phone that signed in last.
Even if your phone number has changed, sign in with the old number you used when signing up. The number is just a username; you don't need to still have that line.
π I forgot my PIN
Depends on your situationFor security, PINs can't be reset by SMS or email; after 5 wrong attempts the account is locked for a while.
If you're a family member
No problem. On "Whose phone is this?" choose Mine (family member) and scan the QR code on your elder's phone again. Choose a new number/PIN and you're back in the family.
If it's the elder's PIN
If the elder's phone works and the app is open, you don't need to do anything. But if the app was deleted and the PIN is unknown, the elder's phone must be set up from scratch: a new family is created, everyone scans the QR again, and the plan is not transferred to the new family.
πͺ Removing someone from the family
Only from the elder's phoneFor security, family members can't remove each other; removal is only done from the elder's phone.
- On the elder's screen, press and hold the β icon in the top right for 3 seconds.
- In the Family members list, tap Remove next to the person and confirm.
π I want to delete my account
Everyone deletes their own account- Family member: at the very bottom of the home screen, Delete my account and data β confirm twice.
- Elder: press and hold β for 3 seconds β Settings β Delete my account and data. If the only elder in the family is deleted, all of the family's data is deleted.
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription; cancel it in the store. Details: Account deletion page.
π Something isn't working
Common situationsNotifications arrive late
Battery saving may be putting the app to sleep on the elder's phone. In the phone's settings, remove the battery restriction for Ebeveynim. On Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei and similar phones also turn on "Autostart".
It says "No microphone permission"
If the app was reinstalled, permissions were reset. In phone Settings β Apps β Ebeveynim β Permissions, turn on Microphone, Phone, Camera and Notifications.
Voice commands aren't understood
Check the contact's nicknames (e.g. "my son"). Your elder should press the button and wait for "I'm listening" before speaking. Make sure the app language matches the language they speak. Transcription of voice messages requires Android 13 or later.
The QR code won't scan
The code renews every 10 minutes; scan the current code on screen. If the camera doesn't work, type the 8-character code and tap Connect with code.
"Wrong number or PIN"
Type the number as you did when signing up. After 5 wrong attempts, wait 15 minutes. If you forgot it, see I forgot my PIN.
The plan doesn't show
The person who bought it should tap Plans β Restore purchases, signed in with the same store account.

π Changing the language
Each phone chooses its own languageThe app opens in English if the phone's language is English, otherwise in Turkish. You can switch with the TΓΌrkΓ§e / English buttons on the first screen, in the elder's Settings (hold β for 3 seconds), or on the family member's home screen under My details. Each phone keeps its own language: for example, the elder can use Turkish while a son abroad uses English. Read-aloud and voice commands follow the selected language.
